What's New In My Shop This Week & Fun Announcement!

Hi friends, Here is a quick update on what is new this week in my Etsy shop. The autumn leaf necklace - this is a one of a kind! I only had one small shard from a plate in this china pattern - which is hard porcelain - I think it turned out great. I added a few coordinating Swarovski crystals to the bottom of the pendant for a little sparkle. There is only one like it, so if you like it, grab it!

As always, I am continually working on new pieces and will have more in my shop soon, including some "new" vintage china patterns that I have't used before, so be sure to check back.

Fun announcement!
I just opened up a new shop on Zazzle and have been super-busy putting my artwork (original illustrations, paintings, and graphic designs) on all of the cool products they offer. They have everything from t-shirts to bath towels, leather totes to soft guitar cases, as well as cards and invitations - and SO much more.

I actually opened two shops there, one strictly for designs called laurabethlove, and the second is more for fun, pop culture text designs that's called Text__Me

Even cooler? Most products can be customized by the customer, so you can add a monogram, your name, etc. to any of my designs to personalize them for yourself or for a gift.

Here's a peek from Text__Me:

Uploading designs to products in the shops is time consuming, and I have lots to upload...but I am really looking forward to creating invitations and cards because it's something I've never done before but that I've always wanted to do. I'm excited for that!

But first I have to get all of my existing designs uploaded there  first, so it will be a little while until cards and invitations will be available. When that happens, I'll be sure to share them!

Now on the jewelry:

I hope you like them! All items shown are available for sale in my Etsy shop, so be sure to check them out for more info on each piece.

Put The Pumpkin On The Table - Creative Pumpkin Centerpieces & Tablescapes

By Karin Lidbeck for Country Gardens
(Image credit: Andre Baronowks for Country Gardens)

Since we've got plenty of time while we wait for the Great Pumpkin to arrive, why not put together a fall pumpkin themed centerpiece for your table - or take it even further and create an autumn pumpkin tablescape?

Nowadays we have so many options - not just orange! White and green pumpkins are at the height of their popularity right now. Feeling super-inspired and creative? Then you might just want to paint your own pumpkins or gourds whatever color you choose, giving them the ultimate personalized look!

I've chosen a few of my favorite pumpkin centerpieces and tablescapes below to awe and inspire you, and maybe give you a few ideas. Use them as inspiration for your fall, Halloween or Thanksgiving tables. Click the photo or text below it to visit the original post! Let me know which you  like the most by leaving a comment below!

Orange & Blue For Autumn

I can't not talk about orange and blue. What a great color combination! And not only that, what a great way to display your blue and white china but with some orange pumpkins or gourds during autumn.

Whether you collect blue English transferware, Blue Willow china, or my favorite—amazing Flow Blue china— autumn is one of the best times of the year to show off your blue china by pairing it with the warm orange and yellow tones of the season.

Right now I have the plate shown here (flea market find, two for $4!) displayed on a table with a few mini pumpkins on top. And that's it—plain and simple, no froufrou, no glitter, no ribbons, no magic dust, just a mini celebration of color. As a matter of fact, if I were going to add anything else at all to this look, it would be a bed of two or three fall-colored autumn leaves below the pumpkins, and that's it.

I love looking at and being inspired by amazing and creative tablescapes (and I have a new blog post coming soon showing a few of my favorites!), but to tell you the truth, they're really not my personal style for my own home.

Unless I am dressing up my table for a one-time special event such as Thanksgiving, I keep my table pretty much straightforward and simple. Sometimes I just don't have the time to put into it, or the extra money to spend on it!

Plus, the more stuff I put on my table, the more nosy my cat gets - and he has to take a really close look at everything.

How do you decorate your table for fall?

Have a great week!
love,
 Laura

Those Sunday Mornings

I don't know if it's because of the changing light of autumn or just because I got a full 8+ hours of sleep, but there's something magical in waking on a Sunday morning — coffee cup in hand — and being completely inspired to make art.

Do I paint with watercolors, or maybe acrylics, or do I create some ink drawings? I go back and forth, deciding on my tools and my medium — my mode of transport to get whatever creative magic from inside my being, out — and into the world.

It's my raw drive, my spiritual push into the universe. At least, that's what it feels like.

Nothing else will do. I can go downtown on Sunday morning and walk around our charming little farmer's market and pick up an amazing pastry or maybe some apples or locally harvested honey—but my mind is like the transcendental silver string that connects me to—and never leaves—my place where I create art.

I want to choose the brushes, the colors, I think about watercolor painting and I imagine the movement, the flow and spread of color in the water, the bloom, the transparency, the drying, the contemplation of the next layer.

Without any formal training, thoughts of rules—and fear of not following them—try to push into my mind. I push them away.

I want to create something new, to pull it out from inside myself - I know that it's there, I can feel it all the time. I think about how I can get it out of me and into the world. But even that's not really enough for me. I want to make something beautiful. I try.

It doesn't have to be fantastic or amazing — it only has to be.

Have a great Sunday!
love,
 Laura

Broken China Jewelry - Quick Update New Items

Hi friends, this is just a quick update to show you a few new pieces of broken china jewelry that I finished a few days ago and recently listed in my shop.

I'm working on some new pieces today and hopefully will have those finished and up in my shop within the next day or so, but I thought I'd go ahead and share these pieces with you right away.

I get a lot of comments on the Statue of Liberty china pattern. You don't often come across historical America or Americana patriotic china patterns, so this really is a unique piece!

The purple or plum transferware plate shown at the end of this post is the plate I used in my instructional DVD, Make Vintage and Upcycled Jewelry: Dishfunctional™ Plate Necklace, which you can find here

Learn how to make broken china jewelry with my DVD workshop!

I hope you like them! All items shown are available for sale in my Etsy shop, so be sure to check them out for more info on each piece.
